PeelBook Terms & Conditions

Welcome to PeelBook. By downloading, accessing, or using the PeelBook mobile application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using the App, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. If you are using the App on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Description of Service

PeelBook is a meal discovery assistant that provides personalized recipe recommendations based on your dietary preferences, allergies, skill level, budget, and cuisine interests. The App offers recipe browsing, meal planning tools, grocery list management, and optional grocery ordering through third-party services. The App also includes community features: public cook profiles, following other members, posting your own recipes, and one-on-one direct messaging with recipe and grocery cart sharing.

3. User Accounts

To access certain features, you must create an account by providing your first name, last name, phone number, and password. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Pricing

PeelBook is currently free to use. All features of the App are available at no charge. We may introduce optional paid features or subscriptions in the future; if we do, any pricing, billing terms, and cancellation rights will be clearly disclosed before you are asked to pay, and these Terms will be updated accordingly.

5. Instacart Grocery Ordering

The App integrates with Instacart via the Instacart Developer Platform to allow you to order groceries directly from your recipe ingredients or grocery list. Instacart is a technology platform that connects you with independent third-party personal shoppers who fulfill and deliver your grocery orders. Instacart is not a grocery store or delivery service.

When you use this feature, you are interacting with Instacart's platform and are subject to Instacart's terms of service, privacy policy, and pricing. PeelBook acts solely as a convenience interface to connect you with Instacart's services. PeelBook does not:

Any disputes, refunds, or issues related to grocery orders, delivery, product quality, or pricing must be resolved directly with Instacart. PeelBook shall not be held liable for any loss, damage, or dissatisfaction arising from your use of Instacart's services.

6. Recipe and Nutritional Information Disclaimer

Recipes, nutritional information, allergen data, dietary tags, cost estimates, and health benefit summaries provided in the App are for informational and educational purposes only and do not constitute medical, nutritional, or dietary advice. While we strive for accuracy, PeelBook does not guarantee that allergen detection is complete or error-free, dietary classifications are 100% accurate, nutritional values or calorie counts are precise, cost estimates reflect actual store prices, or that AI-generated health summaries are complete or applicable to your individual health situation.

IMPORTANT: If you have food allergies, intolerances, or medical dietary requirements, you must always independently verify all ingredients before preparing or consuming any recipe. This applies especially to recipes posted by other users, which are not professionally reviewed. Relying solely on the App for allergy or dietary safety decisions is done entirely at your own risk. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before making changes to your diet based on information in this App.

7. AI-Generated Content

The App uses artificial intelligence (powered by OpenAI) to generate health benefit summaries and enhance recipe content. AI-generated content is based on general nutritional knowledge and may contain inaccuracies, omissions, or outdated information. It is not a substitute for consultation with a qualified healthcare professional and is provided "as is" without warranties of accuracy or completeness.

8. Intellectual Property

All content, design elements, logos, trademarks, the PeelAlgor recommendation algorithm, and software code within the App are the property of PeelBook and its licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App or its content without prior written permission. Recipe data sourced from third-party APIs remains subject to the respective API providers' terms of use.

9. User Content and Community Features

Signed-in users can create a profile (including a display name and an optional profile photo), follow other members, like recipes, and post their own recipes. Recipes you post are public: they are visible to other users of the App together with your name and profile photo.

You retain ownership of the content you create in the App, including recipes, photos, profile information, and messages ("User Content"). By posting or sharing User Content, you grant PeelBook a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and distribute that content within the App as needed to operate and improve the service. You represent that you have all necessary rights to any content you upload, including photos. You are solely responsible for your User Content; we may remove content, restrict features, or suspend accounts that violate these Terms, infringe the rights of others, or harm the community, at our sole discretion.

10. Direct Messages

The App includes one-on-one direct messaging. You can send text messages, share recipes, share saved grocery carts, and like messages. A first message to someone who does not follow you is delivered as a message request, which the recipient can view or ignore. You can block another user at any time; blocking prevents further messages between the two of you. Message content is stored on our servers so it can be delivered and displayed on your devices, as described in the Privacy Policy. Deleting a conversation removes it from your view; the other participant keeps their copy. You agree not to use messaging to harass, threaten, spam, or deceive others, or to send unlawful, offensive, or infringing content. We may remove messages and suspend messaging privileges or accounts for abuse.

11. Notifications

The App shows in-app notifications for community activity — for example new followers, follow requests, messages, shared recipes and carts, and new recipes from cooks you follow. With your permission, the App also sends push notifications to your device, such as meal reminders and activity alerts. You can turn push notifications off at any time in your device settings.

12. User Conduct

You agree not to use the App for any unlawful purpose; harass, bully, impersonate, or spam other users, including through direct messages; post or share content that is unlawful, offensive, or infringes the rights of others; attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App; interfere with or disrupt the App's servers or networks; create multiple accounts for fraudulent purposes; scrape or harvest data from the App without authorization; circumvent any security measures; or use the App to transmit harmful, offensive, or illegal content.

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, PEEL AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ALLERGIC REACTIONS OR ADVERSE HEALTH EFFECTS FROM RECIPES (INCLUDING RECIPES POSTED BY OTHER USERS), CONTENT POSTED OR SHARED BY OTHER USERS, FINANCIAL LOSS FROM INCORRECT PRICING OR GROCERY ORDERS, DATA LOSS, SERVICE INTERRUPTIONS, OR ACTIONS OF THIRD-PARTY SERVICE PROVIDERS. IN NO EVENT SHALL PEEL'S TOTAL LIABILITY EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID TO PEEL IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.

14. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR ACCURACY.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless PeelBook, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the App, content you post or share, violation of these Terms, or infringement of any third-party rights.

16. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with or relies on the following third-party services, each governed by their own terms: Instacart Developer Platform (grocery ordering), Twilio (SMS phone verification), Google Places (grocery store location services), OpenAI (AI-powered health content), TheMealDB / Spoonacular (recipe data sources), Resend (email delivery for verification codes and account emails), and Apple and Google (sign-in services and push notification delivery). PeelBook is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or conduct of these third-party services. Instacart and all other third-party trademarks and logos referenced in the App are the property of their respective owners.

17. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated through the App or via the contact information associated with your account. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

18. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at our sole discretion, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties. Upon termination, your right to use the App will immediately cease.

19. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation, and failing that, through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction.

20. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
